Beat Comfort Eating

You have the power! The most vital issue  to be aware of is the time of day when you use food for emotional comfort. Trigger Zones Stress experts tell us there are certain ‘trigger’ zones in a day such as running late for a meeting or work, or as soon as you come in from a hard day.Feeling alone is also another common one. If these patterns sound like you, spend 3-5 minutes, that's all you need, before the trigger zone to interupt the habit. You could take a walk around the park,a walk to the bathroom to re-touch make up (this can also make you feel better) or have a shower. Once you’ve taken that little breather you will probably find you will not need that food. Bling Up! Another trick I typically work with is that I ask clients to buy themselves a visible piece of jewellery, be it a earrings or a necklace, that they put on and wear with the sole intention to remind themselves throughout busy days what their purpose or goal is. If you are feeling the need to eat, take a look at your new necklace or ring to remind yourself of your goal. You'll definately think twice about grabbing that chocolate bar. It sounds silly, however it will work – and is a smart excuse for some new bling! Reward Yourself Figure out how you can give yourself a non-food reward. What will take the place of the snack? If you are at home, have a go at painting your nails, or taking a shower when you abstain from your snack. This can be extremely helpful in breaking the trigger zone,as above, but this also reinforces the positive feeling you get of not snacking. Find out what will work for you.
